The PDP in Anambra State has urged the newly formed electoral commission, Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC), to conduct free and fair local government elections.

The PDP Chairman, Anambra State chapter, Mr Chigozie Igwe, made the call in a chat with newsmen in Awka, the state capital. Igwe was responding to Tuesday’s swearing-in of a six-man ANSIEC board by Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo. The board is chaired by a magistrate, Chinelo Osakwe.

While welcoming the new electoral commission, Igwe urged the body for transparency, fairness, and impartiality in the upcoming elections.

He said, "The PDP in Anambra wishes to call on ANSIEC to make sure that all qualified voters are allowed to contribute to the electoral process without any form of bullying or harassment.

We will not allow any form of exploitation or cheating in the upcoming local government elections; as a party, we are fully ready and positioned to win the majority of the election".
