Pastor Sets 21-Year-Old Lady Ablaze During Deliverance Session

In a shocking incident that transpired on August 17, 2023, a 21-year-old woman, Sukura Owodunni, was reportedly set on fire by a pastor identified as Taiwo Odebiyi.

The incident occurred during a deliverance session held at his Cherubim and Seraphim Maberu Parish situated in Offin within the Sagamu area of Ogun State.

According to PUNCH Metro, the victim had visited the church for a special prayer at the pastor's invitation. During the prayer session, the pastor instructed Owodunni to purchase Amazing Grace perfume, local eggs, and a candle for the special occasion.

While conducting the prayer, Pastor Odebiyi allegedly poured the perfume on the lady's body and ignited the candle. Tragically, as the candle was lit, Owodunni reportedly caught fire and suffered severe burns on her chest, shoulders, and legs.

An eyewitness revealed that the swift intervention of the Divisional Police Officer in Adigbe, CSP Abdulfattah Ogunsanya, and his team led to the immediate arrest of the pastor. The suspect was apprehended on the premises.

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, acknowledged that investigations have commenced to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the case. The victim, who was left to shoulder her medical expenses after the incident, has been admitted to the hospital for medical attention.

Odutola stated, "Our men have arrested the suspect. The case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department after the preliminary investigation is perfected," as reported to PUNCH Metro.
