The Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Major General Barry Ndiomu (retd.), announced on Friday that the program is supporting 75 pilots and aircraft engineers to undergo type-rating training in South Africa and France as part of its aviation training scheme.
Meanwhile, during the sanitization process of the PAP database, it was discovered that certain beneficiaries and ex-agitators had multiple bank accounts linked to their Bank Verification Numbers (BVNs).
To address these irregularities, a dedicated portal (_stver.osapnd.gov.ng) was created for the affected beneficiaries to log in and select a single account to regularize their payments. As a result, 1,561 accounts have been cleared and fully paid, effectively eliminating multiple account fraud from the payment list.
In addition, the PAP revealed that 847 delegates are currently undergoing training in various ICT-specialized fields at the National Information Technology Development Agency, covering topics such as digital marketing, social media marketing, and computer appreciation.
The spokesperson for the PAP CEO, Freston Akpor, highlighted that these initiatives, from vocational training centers to opportunities in federal government agencies, as well as support for viable SMEs, demonstrate the commitment to ensuring the socio-economic sustainability of ex-agitators and youth in the Niger Delta region.
These efforts have opened up significant employment prospects for ex-agitators in the oil-rich Niger Delta area, fostering a climate of growth and opportunity.
Akpor said, “Under General Ndiomu, a total of 847 delegates are undergoing training in the National Information Technology Development Agency in various ICT specialised fields with certification in digital marketing, email marketing, social media marketing, computer appreciation, search engine optimisation, as well as technical and computer writing.
“Similarly, the PAP is sponsoring 75 pilots and aircraft engineers to South Africa and France for type-rating as part of the programme’s aviation training scheme, which General Ndiomu is very passionate about.
