Panic ensued on Thursday in Ado Ekiti when several okada riders—commercial motorcycle riders—staged a protest against the association's officials.

Because of their alleged corruption, arrogance, abuse of power, attacks on colleagues, and theft of funds the irate riders who blocked down some streets and important intersections in the town demanded the removal of the existing union executives.

The riders told our correspondent that Governor Biodun Oyebanji should fire the executives and take over the management of the Union.

They claimed the association overcharged them for tickets while misusing the money, and they added that the management recruited certain miscreants who have a history of abusing and assaulting drivers.

They said that one of the criminals pushed a commercial motorcyclist who was moving while carrying a passenger, causing them to fall off the bike and suffer serious injuries.

Later, a group of armed police officers dispersed the protesting okada riders.

While hiding from a potential attack at the Ijigbo roundabout, some association leaders were spotted, but they choose not to comment on the matter.
