The Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji will one week from now forward the arrangements of his magistrates candidates to the State Place of Gathering for screening and affirmation.
When he received the members of the newly elected 7th assembly in his office in Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, on Friday, the governor announced the plan.
Oyebanji who said the Gathering ought to expect list one week from now, asked the administrators to guarantee exhaustive screening of the Magistrate assigns to bring the best from the activity.
Noting that the legislature is essential to the state's growth and development, the governor urged them to act impartially, carry out their responsibilities without favor, and avoid unnecessary disagreements that could affect their legislative assignments.
“I have listened to Mr. Speaker, and I agree with you that this is one government. I also support your legislative agenda of a legislature that is responsive and responsible, which reflects our own mantra of shared prosperity. And I keep reminding people that this is one government, that we are all Ekiti, that our people brought us here for a reason, and that in order for that reason to become a reality, all we need to do is collaborate in the best interests of the people.
“The beauty of democracy is that there may be times when there are strains and stresses,” I admit. The beauty of democracy is that even in times of strain and stress, if it provides a forum for discussion, we will still come back like this, argue, shout, and resolve. It is not often that we will agree this way.
“The assurance I am able to provide to you from the Executive Council I lead is that we are prepared to partner with you and provide you with the necessary support without interfering with your freedom. We will treat the legislature as a different branch of government with the utmost respect.
Oyebanji urged the newly elected members of the Ekiti State House of Assembly to always put the interests of the state's citizens first in their work as legislators.
He said that his government was ready to work with the Assembly in the best interests of the people of Ekiti.
He also said that the state can't grow unless the Executive and Legislative branches work together.
Hon. the Speaker Adeoye Aribasoye gave the Governor the assurance that the assembly is fully prepared to have a legislature that is responsive and accountable in order to keep Ekiti working toward shared prosperity.
