An Osun State monarch, Oba Abideen Adeyemi, the Alamo of Ayegbaju Ijesa, narrowly escaped an attempt on his life in Ilesa on Saturday.

According to an anonymous source, unidentified gunmen opened fire on Oba Adeyemi and his driver in Ilesa town.

The attack on the Alamo occurred shortly after he celebrated his 18th coronation anniversary in the ancient town, during which he was reportedly ambushed and hit by bullets.

The source further revealed that both the monarch and his driver were rescued and promptly taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical attention.

In response to the shooting, Yemisi Opalola, the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Police Command, stated that the incident is currently under investigation. She assured the public that the culprits would be brought to justice.
