The Osun state government under the leadership of Governor Gboyega Oyetola has debunked the report claiming it flouted the court order that ordered stoppage of Iree Chieftaincy process.
Recall that Lagos Local News had earlier reported that the government ordered the installation of the newly appointed Iree king, Prince Raphael Oluponle Ademola as gathered that the state government, represented by the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adebayo, had reportedly conducted installation ceremony for the Oba-elect on Wednesday which against the order of the Ikirun High court, Justice I.O Adeleke.
Debunking the report, Governor Oyetola through his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan denied that the government did not flout any court order, affirming that the ceremony in the palace is not an installation.
Explaining the scenario behind their gathering in the palace, Omipidan asserted the King was only welcomed by some Government officials and some indigenes of Iree after coming back from seclusion.
He said, “The moment his appointment was announced on Monday, he (Ademola) went into seclusion for the traditional rituals. At that point, the state government plays no role. He only came out from seclusion yesterday (Friday). Usually, formal installation is arranged, just like we did today in Ife South. What happened yesterday (Friday) is not [an] installation,” Omipidan said.
