The All Progressives Congress (APC) elders' caucus in Osun state has urged Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, the current Interior Minister, to seek genuine forgiveness for his wrongdoings in order to rejoin the party.

Sola Akinwumi, the chairman of the caucus, said in a statement on Friday that the party continued to have an open door policy for anyone who had a genuine desire to advance the party.

During the homecoming celebration that his loyalists had planned for him, Ogbeni Aregbesola asked for forgiveness from party members who had been offended by his actions.

He added that it was time to rebuild the party and that he was available to return the party to winning ways if stakeholders were ready for reconciliation, despite the fact that he stated that he is not afraid of war.

However, the elders caucus insisted that the former Minister sincerely apologize for his actions in order to be promoted.

That the All Progressives Congress (APC) Osun State Chapter remains intact even as the leadership investigates all options to ensure a cohesive and focused Party.

“It has come to the attention of this body some comments made by the Fmr Gov/Minister of Interior H/E. Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola during his recent event in Osun State and I wish to inform the public that our Party's door is open to any Party member who is willing to truly apologize to the Party for his or her misdeeds,” the statement reads.

"Finally, this body sincerely thanks all dedicated and devoted members for their unwavering and unwavering support of the Party in spite of all odds."
