A pressure organization operating out of Warri called Concerned Nigerians for Good Governance, or CNGG, has criticized Bernard Okumagba's nomination to the NDDC Board as being unlawful.

According to the rules of the laws that created the Commission, the group contended, it is now the responsibility of the Itsekiri country to produce the Chairman of the intervention body.

The comments were stated in a statement released in Warri by CNGG Chairman, Engineer Gab Meni, and Secretary, Elder Sam Ejo.

He pointed out that the entire appointment procedure for the NDDC contradicts both the language and the spirit of the Act creating the Commission, and that it disadvantages the oil-rich minority Itsekiri tribe of Delta State, which is supposed to produce the Chairman of the NDDC.

The Itsekiris are Delta State's top oil producers, thus the organization additionally urged President Bola A. Tinubu and the newly elected Sen. Akpabio-led National Assembly to put the NDDC legislation into effect.
