Ogun Police Hunt Hit-and-Run Driver After Fatal Incident

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the deaths and ongoing efforts to apprehend the driver.

The Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a suspected hit-and-run driver who struck and killed two male travelers, Yahaya Suleiman and Emeka, at the Kara Market on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The incident occurred around 3:30 pm on Monday when the driver lost control and hit three travelers waiting for a bus, knocking two off the overhead bridge.

A witness, Issa, described the driver as speeding and losing control before ramming into the travelers. Suleiman and Emeka died shortly after being taken to the hospital, while the third victim, Ishola, is hospitalized with serious injuries.

Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the deaths and ongoing efforts to apprehend the driver. Between January and June 2024, at least four pedestrians have been killed by hit-and-run drivers on major Ogun State highways.
