Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State announced that the successful implementation of the 2024 budget is largely due to increased funding from enhanced revenue generation and the prevention of financial leakages.
Speaking at a town hall meeting in Ilaro focused on the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and the 2025 Budget, Abiodun, represented by his Chief Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, highlighted that the budget has achieved an impressive 80 percent implementation rate.
Abiodun emphasized that prior to his administration's tenure starting in 2019, budget implementation was below 40 percent. He noted that through various reforms, this figure has risen to an average of 75 percent, with both the current and previous year's budgets reaching an implementation rate of 80 percent.
The governor attributed this success to strategic mechanisms aligned with the state's development goals, aimed at ensuring effective budget execution.
Additionally, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, the Commissioner for Budget Planning, acknowledged the significant contributions from the public in shaping past budgets, asserting that citizen input will be crucial for the upcoming 2025 budget.
The Olu of Ilaro and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Obas, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, represented by the Onimeko of Imeko, Oba Benjamin Olanite, urged for more road reconstruction in the area to bolster local economic activities.
