The National Judicial Council (NJC) has sounded the alarm regarding an alleged plot to defraud retired judicial officers across the federation.

Expressing their concern, the Council highlighted in a statement to the media on Sunday that fraudsters have been contacting retired judges, demanding money to expedite the payment of their retirement benefits.

The legal body, while advising retired judicial officers in the country to be cautious and avoid falling prey to scammers, made it clear that it does not support such arrangement.

The statement signed by the Director of Information at the NJC, Soji Oye, highlighted that the National Judicial Council has noticed the continuous phone calls made to retired Judicial Officers by unscrupulous individuals demanding payments to expedite the processing of their retirement benefits.

By means of this statement, "The National Judicial Council is notifying retired Judicial Officers and the public to disregard any phone calls requesting money for expediting retirement benefit payments."
