The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted hazy weather conditions nationwide from Wednesday through Friday.

In its weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja, NiMet indicated that moderate dust haze is expected, with horizontal visibility ranging between 2 kilometers and 5 kilometers during this period.

The North Central region will also experience similar moderate dust haze. Meanwhile, inland southern cities are likely to see cloud patches amid a hazy atmosphere, while coastal areas may encounter early morning mist or fog. As the day progresses, these coastal regions are expected to witness cloud patches in hazy conditions.

Additionally, NiMet predicts slight dust haze in the northern region, with horizontal visibility throughout the forecast period.

However, on Friday, moderate dust haze is anticipated in the northern region, with visibility again between 2 kilometers and 5 kilometers. Localized areas in Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Kebbi, Sokoto, and Kaduna states could experience visibility of less than 1 kilometer.

The agency has urged the public to take necessary precautions due to airborne dust particles and advised individuals with respiratory issues, such as asthma, to be particularly cautious.

NiMet also recommended that airline operators obtain airport-specific weather reports for effective flight planning and encouraged residents to stay updated by checking their website for ongoing weather updates.
