It can be recalled that the Senate passed this bill in 2020 while the House of Representatives passed theirs but with different provisions.

However, the Chairman Senate Committee , Senator Opeyemi Bamidele reported during a plenary session that the conference committee of both chambers had reconciled their divergent positions and submitted the report.

The aim of the proposed legislation is to make sexual harassment by educators against students in tertiary institutions a criminal offense.

Furthermore, the National Assembly has recently approved a legislation that mandates the incorporation of preventive measures against sexual and gender-based violence into the curriculum of all levels of secondary education in Nigeria.
