Alexander Ofori, 28, and Josephine Sarpong, 46, a well-known bar owner, were assassinated by unidentified assailants in their three-bedroom home in Gomoa Nyame N'adom, close to Buduburam in the Central Region.

Residents said they called the Kasoa Millennium City Police on Sunday after detecting a foul odour coming from the deceased's house's direction.

When police arrived and unlocked the door, they discovered the man lying in a pool of blood and the mother in her bedroom, her body covered with several Cutlass cuts.

Police believe the woman was raped before being killed after looking over her corpse.

The Police Hospital Morgue has received the bodies that were in a stage of decomposition.

The issue is currently under investigation.
