Millions Lost as Fire Guts Olorunda Market in Ibadan

Reacting to the incident, the special adviser to the governor on fire reforms, Etiwanda Moroof said, the effect has been mitigated.

Massive losses have been reported following a fire outbreak at the popular Olorunda market in the Lagelu local government area, Ibadan, with millions of naira worth of goods and property destroyed.

According to journalists, the fire outbreak started from one of the shops before it circulated to others in the market.

The affected traders are lamenting over the losses, whose total damage is estimated at millions of naira.

Reacting to the incident in a telephone chat, the special adviser to the governor on fire reforms, Etiwanda Moroof, said, “Our men have responded to the situation swiftly; the effect has been mitigated. There is no cause for alarm.

The State Fire Service is well-prepared, with approximately five fire trucks stationed in Ibadan.

Governor Seyi Makinde has provided the necessary resources to ensure the agency can swiftly respond to any emergence that may occur.
