Man Bags Two Years Jail Term For ₦1.8 Million Visa Fraud

A Kaduna Chief Magistrate's Court has sentenced 40-year-old Michael Timothy to two years in prison for scamming a woman of N1.8 million on the false pretext of obtaining a Canadian visa on her behalf.

Judge Ibrahim Emmanuel sentenced Timothy to two years in prison without the possibility of a fine after Timothy entered a guilty plea to the crime. The magistrate declared that the punishment will run concurrently and act as a deterrent to others.

Inspector Chidi Leo, the prosecutor, claimed that Timothy had deceived Cynthia Cole into giving him the money.
