The Lagos State Government has completed plans to collaborate with stakeholders to achieve Zero-Carbon Lagos by 2055.

This information was disclosed at the inaugural stakeholders' meeting in Lagos on Tuesday, by the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Titilayo Oshodi.

During the event, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, emphasized that climate change and the need for a circular economy are crucial present realities that require immediate and decisive action.

In August, it was reported that Sanwo-Olu emphasized the need to address the challenges of climate change through partnerships with donor organizations, spanning waste, transportation, and energy sectors.

Noting that Lagos is a coastal city, Sanwo-Olu highlighted that it is not immune to these challenges, with sea-level rise being one of the most immediate impacts of climate change, alongside other effects like extreme weather events, resource scarcity, and pollution.

He stated that the state has the chance to address these challenges and unlock a more sustainable and prosperous future for Lagos.

The state governor emphasized the importance of transitioning to a circular economy, which maximizes resource efficiency, minimizes waste, and promotes environmental responsibility.
