Olasumbo Sammie, a 29-year-old cashier, was arraigned on Monday for allegedly stealing N1.8 million worth of shaving sticks and blades from her employer.

It was alleged that Sammie, who worked as a cashier in 2022, sold the shaving sticks and blades but failed to pay her employer the money.

On two counts of theft, the defendant was brought before a Magistrates' Court in Yaba, Lagos State, by the police.

According to Thomas Nurudeen, the prosecutor, the offenses violated Section 280 and were punishable under Sections 411 and 287(7) of the Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015 Criminal Laws.

The charge reads, "That Olasumbo Sammie from February 1, 2022, till February 2023 at No 74 Docemo Road, Idumota Lagos, in the Lagos Authoritative Region committed crime indeed: taking and subsequently perpetrated an offense as opposed to Segment 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2015."

Sammie was granted bail in the amount of N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount by Magistrate P. E. Nwaka.

Nwaka dismissed the case till July 5, 2023 .
