The traditional leader of the Nkalagu Obukpa village in Enugu State, Igwe James Agbogo, who was kidnapped on December 21, has being released after being held captive for four days.

After four days of captivity and discussions with the captors, the monarch was freed on Christmas Day.

The release was accomplished after the abductors received N6 million in ransom and the delivery of commodities such as a bag of rice, a carton of wine, and other culinary supplies as they demanded.

The Igwe was kidnapped from his castle as he prepared for his coronation on December 28. Following his release, he was brought to a hospital for medical attention.

In another incident, the gruesome murder of an Enugu State traditional ruler, Mr. Patrick Ezugwu of Akutara in Adani Autonomous Community, Uzo Uwani Local Government Area, led to the arrest of eight suspects.

Kanayo Uzuegbu, the Commissioner of Police, who visited this community, assured the people that the offenders involved in the sad tragedy will be apprehended.

He claimed that the governor had requested a speedy investigation to capture and prosecute those involved.
