Nigerian Army Troops from Combat Team 3 stationed in Maraban Maigora, Katsina State, have set free 10 women and six children who had been held captive by bandits since February 3, 2024.

According to a military source, the victims were freed on Monday, March 18, 2024, during a routine patrol at the Rimi community after being held hostage for 46 days by the criminals. The witness affirmed that the freed victims were among the 54 persons abducted along Gamji-Dandume road earlier in February.

Responding to the development, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda in a press statement made available by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, commended the army troops for their gallantry in the rescue operation. He promised the people of his administration’s steadfast dedication in eliminating criminality within the state.

The press release stated that the freedom of the women and children is a testament to the bravery and commitment of our security forces. “We remain dedicated to providing them with the resources and assistance they need to ensure the safety of residents in the state,” it added.
