An investigation into the events surrounding the reported beheading of Mohammed Saidu, a minor, by an Almajiri in Kanwa village, Madobi Local Government Area, has been launched by the Police Command in Kano State.

The state's commissioner of police, Mr. Usaini Gumel, made this announcement on Friday in Kano, stating that 16-year-old Almajiri, who was only known by Abdullahi, allegedly killed 6-year-old Saidu.

Gumel stated that Abdullahi, a native of Zamfara, was seen by a good Samaritan at Kanwa village carrying a knife that was stained with blood, which was likely human blood.

According to searches, Saidu's decapitated body was discovered in a nearby elementary school.

He said that in order to keep the suspect from being lynched, he was then brought to the village chief's home.

But according to the commissioner, the enraged mob overpowered the village chief, attacked the suspect, and gravely injured him.

He claimed that upon the arrival of the police, the suspect admitted to the crime and claimed to have dumped the victim's head in a pit latrine next to the elementary school.

According to him, the suspect passed away while obtaining treatment at Kwankwaso Cottage Hospital.

Gumel added that the victim's remains were found, taken to the hospital for analysis, and then returned to his family for burial.
