The Kano State Government has allocated N28.4 million to assist 62 victims of a recent fire disaster.

Governor Abba Yusuf announced the distribution during a ceremony in Kano, where he was represented by Hajiya Abdullahi, the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

This financial support is part of the government's efforts to provide relief and comfort to those affected. "We are here to console and support the victims and to help ease their pains with this token," Abdullahi stated.

The Executive Secretary of the Kano State Emergency Management Agency, Alhaji Isyaku Kubarachi, reported that the victims suffered losses totaling N835.9 million. Among those affected, seven individuals tragically lost their lives, and 11 beneficiaries from Dakata small-scale enterprises received aid.

Kubarachi emphasized that a thorough assessment was conducted to evaluate the damage and prepare a detailed report for state assistance.

He also acknowledged the contributions of various organizations, including the Nigeria Red Cross and the National Emergency Management Agency.

In a safety advisory, Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi, NEMA Coordinator for Kano, urged the public, particularly women using firewood and charcoal, to exercise caution when handling fire. He recommended turning off electrical appliances when leaving home or going to bed to prevent future incidents.

Ahmadu Sale, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude for the support but shared his sorrow over personal losses in a fire caused by an electrical fault earlier this year.
