Organization for Public Awareness on Child and Women's Rights (OPACTS), a sub-grantee of Women Advocates Research and Document Centre (WARDC) with funding from the Ford Foundation, has educated two communities in honor of International Women's Day.
In accordance with the theme of this year's celebration of International Women's Day, the focus of the sensitization was on how technology can be used more effectively to end violence against women and girls:
"Computerized Development and Innovation for Orientation Correspondence."
In her address to the women of the communities, OPACTS Executive Director Ayoola Olusegun said that the theme of this year's International Women's Day is very appropriate in light of the less-than-cash policy.
She further urged the ladies to move with time and get associated with advanced space to empower them contribute their shares to the financial improvement of their networks, State and Nigeria in general.
Mr. Ayodeji Adesua, the organization's IT officer, went on to explain to the women in plain English how their smartphones could be used to record videos, take pictures, send text messages, and chat on WhatsApp to report incidents of violence to the appropriate authorities, who are obligated to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators.
Barr. Ayoola Olusegun, who conformed to the assessment above said that Segment 4(I)(ii) and (iii) Province of Osun Security Against Abusive behavior at home Regulation, 2013 gives the right to an outsider to hold up protests against culprits of abusive behavior at home to suitable experts in the state without the subject of "locus standi."
In addition, she stated that Android phones are frequently underutilized, necessitating additional Android application education for improved reporting of domestic violence and abuse in the two communities.
Mrs. Funke Oyebowale, Mr. Opeyemi Olagunju, Mrs.Ojebowale Adijat, Mr. Ibikunle Saheed, and Mrs. Oyelade Saudat, all members of the Community Response Team (CRT) that had been trained by WARDC, offered to host a training session for the women on how to use their mobile phones more effectively in order to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities to the communities and bring an end to violence against women and girls in the two communities
