Islamic Calendar: Kano Declares Wednesday As Public Holiday

The governor urged people to live their lives following Islamic teachings and put the values of tolerance, kindness, and love as demonstrated by the Holy Prophet Muhammad into practice.

Wednesday has been designated a work-free day by the Kano State Government to commemorate the start of the 1445 Islamic New Year.

The state governor, Abba Yusuf, greeted all Muslims worldwide on the new Islamic year, according to the state commissioner for information, Baba Dantiye, who verified the development in a statement on Tuesday.

‘’The Governor who congratulated Muslims around the world on the dawn of the new Islamic year enjoined the civil servants and the people in the state to pray for peace and tranquillity as well as economic development of our dear state and the country at large,’’ the statement said.
