Four members of the Imo State House of Assembly were suspended on Tuesday for an alleged attempt to remove the speaker, Chike Olemgbe.

This was revealed to journalists in Owerri, the Imo State Capital, by the Speaker’s Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Peter Uwa.

When questioned about the suspensions, he stated that they were declared directly by the speaker, Olemgbe.

The suspensions included lawmakers from four constituencies: Okigwe (Chidiebere Ogbunikpa), Ahiazu (Sam Otuibe), Ezinihitte Mbaise (Henry Agbasonu), and Oru West (Dominic Ezerioha).

The spokesperson explained that the lawmakers were suspended for allegedly plotting to remove the speaker, Chike Olemgbe, from his position. This involved secretly developing an impeachment plan and urging other members to support it. Notably, there was no formal vote on the suspension; it was announced directly by the speaker.
