A Nigeria Immigration Service staff, Quadri Ismail Adeyinka has been found guilty of travel passport fraud by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

The convict was arraigned by the ICPC before Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Apo, Abuja, on a four-count charge bordering on gratification, conferment of corrupt advantage, and cheating contrary to extant provisions of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000 and the Penal Code Act.

As part of the trial, Dr Osuobeni Ekoi Akponimisingha, counsel for the ICPC, presented testimony to the court regarding Adeyinka's deceit against Justice Ojeffia under the pretence of regularising the latter’s international passport.

After the payment of N100,000 by Ojeffia to get the aforementioned passport regularised, Adeyinka violated their agreement.

A petition was filed by the victim by ICPC, which led to an investigation and the arraignment of the convict. Judge Onwuegbuzie found Adeyinka guilty on all four charges in his ruling, and he was given sentences of seven years for counts 1 and 2, five years for count 4, and two years for count 3.

The sentences are all to run concurrently.
