The 2024 Ilobu Day celebration, scheduled for Saturday, has been suspended following the passing of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja.

In a statement signed by Pastor Olufemi Salako, Chairman of the Ilobu-Asake Development Union (IDU), the union expressed grief over the loss, describing it as a major blow to their community.

Salako noted that Lagbaja, a native of Ilobu and a respected member of the IDU, passed away when his leadership and service were most needed. “The death of Lt. Gen. Lagbaja is indeed devastating to us all. It came at a time when his service and leadership were crucial to our community’s development, Osun State, and Nigeria at large,” he said.

The IDU extended condolences to the family, the Ilobu community, and the Nigerian Army, urging the public to keep them in their prayers. The statement added that a new date for the Ilobu Day celebration would be announced in due course.
