Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, held an inter-denominational church service in Umuahia, the state capital, to mark his first year in office.

While speaking on Sunday in Umuahia during the inter-denominational church service, Otti said, We are not here celebrating, but only saying, thank you, Jesus. We are here to say thank you to the people who elected us and to God, who took charge. He emphasised his dedication to serving both God and the people, even in the face of difficulty.

He added, We are poised to do the right thing, no matter whose ox is gored, calling for constructive criticism and promising that he would not be distracted.

Otti used the occasion to reflect on his first year, highlighting it as a time for assessment and improvement. He stressed his meritocratic approach to governance, prioritising skills and competence over ethnicity in appointments.

The governor announced plans to revitalise the state capital, Umuahia, aiming to create a similar development to Lagos' Oshodi district.

The service also included a sermon by Dr. Emma Onwunta, who encouraged thankfulness to God through Governor Otti's leadership.
