Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has extended her congratulations to the nation’s workforce on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day, describing them as the backbone of the nation’s growth and development.
On Friday, May 1, 2026, the First Lady released a goodwill message expressing her profound gratitude to the workers across the country, applauding their resilience, commitment, and invaluable contributions to national progress.
She stated that workers in both the public and private sectors continue to play an important role in driving economic development, stressing the efforts of civil servants, professionals, artisans, and entrepreneurs.
“Today, we celebrate the resilience, dedication, and invaluable contributions of our workers, whose daily efforts drive the growth and development of our country,” the first lady said.
She further lauded the role of labour unions in advocating for better welfare and conditions of service for Nigerian workers, while also acknowledging their collaboration in strengthening the nation’s workforce.
Oluremi urged continued partnership between labour organisations and stakeholders to boost productivity and help in the development of the nation.
