A devastating fire erupted on Sunday evening at Ajah Market, located near Alesh Bus Stop in the Lekki area of Lagos State, resulting in the destruction of goods valued at millions of naira.

The fire started at about 9 PM, engulfing several shops filled with combustible materials.

Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed that the agency, in conjunction with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, responded promptly to the incident.

Despite their efforts, the cause of the fire remains undetermined.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries or casualties, as the market was closed for Sunday trading at the time of the fire.

Oke-Osanyintolu stated, “The LASEMA Response Team, along with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, managed to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring buildings.”

He added that efforts are ongoing to fully extinguish the flames and recover any remaining valuables from the affected shops.
