The Federal Government of Nigeria is intensifying its collaborations with global lessors and financiers to bolster the growth of domestic airlines and facilitate fleet renewal.

This announcement was made by Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, during a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday.

Keyamo emphasized the government's commitment to enhancing stakeholder engagement and fostering a competitive, inclusive, and resilient aviation ecosystem.

He revealed plans to lead a Nigerian delegation to the "Boeing Lessor Forum" in Dublin, Ireland, scheduled for January 12-15, 2025. This forum will coincide with the "Airline Economics Growth Frontiers Global Conference," providing a significant platform for discussions aimed at advancing Nigeria's aviation sector.

Highlighting the importance of this event, Keyamo stated that it represents Nigeria's dedication to promoting growth and sustainability in aviation under President Bola Tinubu's leadership.

He expressed optimism about the potential for strategic alliances that could drive the sector forward, urging the delegation to leverage this opportunity for innovative leasing and financing solutions.

The minister also reiterated the government's commitment to adhering to international protocols, such as the Cape Town Convention, which aims to enhance investor confidence by protecting the interests of creditors in aircraft leasing agreements.

Furthermore, he noted ongoing efforts to modernize airports and improve air navigation systems to boost safety and efficiency in Nigerian aviation.

Keyamo concluded by mentioning that training programs are being developed to cultivate local talent and sustain industry growth.
