North Tongu Member of Parliament Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has told Ghanaians to look forward to more corruption revelations on the National Cathedral project.
Mr. Ablakwa has made numerous accusations of corruption against a number of National Cathedral Board members, particularly against the secretary, Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng.
In the upcoming days, he remarked, Ghanaians should anticipate more.
He had previously complained about Rev. Kusi Boateng to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) after claiming that Boateng had registered a corporation under a different name in order to conduct business with the Secretariat.
The name Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, who is listed as one of the three directors of JNS Talent Center Limited, was visible on the passports provided by the politician.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP accused that company of getting approximately GH2.6 million from the Secretariat for "no work done."
The Ranking Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee of Parliament claimed that despite variations in age, TINs, occupations, and addresses on the passports, Rev. Kusi Boateng was the same Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.
“From unassailable and irreproachable documents in my possession, Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng, AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, uses multiple passports and multiple identification cards with different names and different dates of birth as his special modus operandi,” the MP wrote on Monday, January 16.
He later added: “These explosive findings make the conflict of interest charge in the GHS2.6 million scandalous payment by the National Cathedral of Ghana to the shady JNS Talent Centre Limited even more blatant, direct, offensive, and absolutely embarrassing.”
On Thursday, April 13, 2023, he tweeted that CHRAJ had written to him to let him know they were still looking into the situation.
However, Rev. Kusi Boateng denied the accusations leveled against him.
In a statement, he added, "I wish to assure the public that Mr. Ablakwa's statements are a warped narrative of events to further a malign political purpose.
“There has never been any criminal intent nor any crime committed in my dealings with the government of Ghana or the National Cathedral.”
