Sheikh Aminu Baba Waziri, a renowned Islamic cleric, has urged lawmakers to pass laws mandating civil servants from Level 12 to take more wives.

He made this appeal in a sermon delivered at Takur Commercial Mosque Dutse, Jigawa State's.

He claimed that given the number of women available in society, men should think about taking on additional spouses in order to improve society.

Sheikh Waziri decried that men, particularly those who have already married, are not taking new wives despite the fact that there are plenty of available women, including widows and single people who want to get married.

He emphasized that the Quran and the Prophet Muhammad's (peace be upon him) Sunnah both highlights marriage's importance and the worth it holds in Allah's eyes as one of the most significant institutions in Islam.

Citing the Holy Quran, he said: “Allah says in Chapter 4:3 “You fear that you shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two, or three, or four; but if you fear that you shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or that which your right hands possess. That will be more suitable to prevent you from doing injustice.”
