The Delta United Movement (DUM) has stated that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) did not arrest the immediate past governor of Delta, Ifeanyichukwu Arthur Okowa, contrary to news claiming so.

The DUM, however, warned against false reports capable of causing disputes in the state.

They made the disclosure in a press release by its National Coordinator, Nkem Onye, on Thursday in Abuja.

“We are especially worried with the resort to false news as the one recently disseminated of the incarceration of Ifeanyi Okowa by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,” he asserted.

He stated that the group's findings revealed Okowa was out of the country during the supposed three-day imprisonment.

''This particular news, according to our investigations, fits the narrative of some political actors in Delta who are resolved to sow a seed of conflict and dislocate the ongoing MORE Agenda of the present government.''

“It is on this basis that we charged residents of the state to be wary of reports filled with political bitterness that may spew from quarters as those who reported the false news on Okowa," he said.

Onye hinted the news was targeted at causing bad blood among serving and past leaders in the state.

The national coordinator, who said though no one was above being held responsible, warned against dragging political rivals in the mud.
