Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has taken a significant step towards fulfilling his campaign promises by initiating the construction of the 4.7km Utteh Palace Road in Benin.

The project, launched on Monday evening, marks a crucial development for the Edo South Senatorial District.

During the flag-off ceremony, Okpebholo emphasized his alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's "Renewed Hope" agenda, pledging to prioritize road construction and other sectors across the state.

The governor highlighted the road's strategic importance, noting that it will connect Ikpoba-Okha and Uhunmwonde Local Government Areas, thereby enhancing accessibility and stimulating economic growth in the region.

"This project reflects our commitment to the people and our dedication to President Tinubu's vision for development," Okpebholo stated, recalling his pre-election visit to the area when he promised to address the road's deplorable condition.

The contractor, Risen Fan, assured timely completion of the project while maintaining high standards. He emphasized the potential for this initiative to catalyze further advancements in various sectors including agriculture, ICT, education, and healthcare.

Community response has been overwhelmingly positive, with Lucky Asemota, Secretary of the Utteh community, expressing gratitude for the governor's prompt action on their long-standing concern.
