The declaration was made by the Minister of Transportation, Sen Said Alkali, during the ongoing COP28 summit in the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement signed by his special assistant on public affairs, Jamilu Ja’afaru. Alkali explained Nigeria's ambitious goals, not only in combating climate change but also in broadening mobility options for all Nigerians.
During the COP28 summit, Alkali extended a sincere invitation to all stakeholders, urging a united front in the collective pursuit of a more sustainable and climate-resilient transportation sector. He also noted the potential benefits that such efforts could yield for the entire nation.
Minister Alkali stated, "We are resolute in our commitment to proactively tackle the challenges posed by greenhouse gas emissions in the transportation sector. Our objective is not only to combat climate change but also to ensure expanded mobility options for every Nigerian."
He emphasized, "I invite all stakeholders to join hands with us in this crucial endeavor. A sustainable and climate-resilient transportation sector is not only beneficial for the environment but also for the overall well-being of our nation."
