On Sunday, a Max Air plane carrying people from Adamawa State reportedly crashed-landed at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, sparking chaos.
When the Max Air plane crash-landed at the Abuja airport on Sunday after the tyre allegedly caught fire, there was anxiety.
The airport's Aerodrome Rescue and Fire-fighting Service personnel were quickly dispatched to the area to extinguish the fire.
The tyre blew off at Yola Airport after takeoff, according to Dr. Mike Ogirima, a former president of the Nigerian Medical Association who described the incident to reporters.
The passengers disembarked at the runway when the plane crashed in Abuja, but rescue personnel were already on the scene to put out the fire.
Ogirima said, “We thank God. We are still on the runway and the pilot has reassured us. He has called for the stairs and we are now disembarking from the runway to be evacuated to the airport building at the arrival hall.
“We bless God because we have witnessed the pull out of the tyre right from the airport in Yola and we went into a prayer session.
“I never announced it as a surgeon so as not to cause any panic but we bless God,” he added.
