Yesterday, the defence headquarters disclosed that Boko Haram militants attacked troops last Thursday on the Buratai-Buni Gari route, resulting in injuries to four soldiers and the death of an Army Lieutenant.

Additionally, it was reported that six terrorists were killed during an engagement with troops who tracked them to their hideouts.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Major Gen. Edward Buba, stated that on April 5, 2024, around 09:35 hrs., troops faced a terrorist ambush on the Buratai-Buni Gari road.

Regrettably, the clash resulted in the death of a lieutenant and injuries to four other personnel, who are now receiving medical care.

Troops, bolstered by reinforcements, located and engaged the terrorists in their stronghold within the Timbuktu Triangle. The encounter led to the neutralization of six terrorists and the recovery of five AK-47 rifles along with 103 rounds of special 7.62mm ammunition.

The rest of the terrorists retreated into the forest, with the troops continuing the pursuit of those who evaded the initial encounter.
