Justice Nathaniel Ayo Emmanuel of the Federal High Court in Osogbo has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that challenged the appointment of Barrister Hashim Abioye as chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC).

The Osun APC's suit, numbered FHC/OS/CS/02/2024, alleged that Abioye is a card-carrying member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). The suit named the state governor, Ademola Adeleke, the Osun State House of Assembly Speaker, Adewale Egbedun, OSSIEC, and Abioye as defendants.

The APC also sought an injunction to prevent the defendants from appointing or confirming Abioye as the OSSIEC chairman and to stop Abioye from acting in that capacity.
