Anambra Police Probe Attack on Vigilante Office

He commended vigilante groups for their dedication to public safety and assured them of police support.

The Anambra State Police Command has initiated a search to track down the gunmen responsible for the recent attack on the Anambra State Vigilante Service office in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area. 

In a press release, the state police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated that Commissioner of Police, Aderemi Adeoye, has ordered an investigation into the incident, and efforts are underway to identify and dismantle the gang involved. 

The assailants, whose identities remain unknown, stormed the AVG office, setting one of the buildings ablaze and burning a vigilante operative along with a vehicle. 

Commissioner Adeoye has pledged to spare no effort in apprehending the perpetrators and expressed condolences to the affected community. 

He commended vigilante groups for their dedication to public safety and assured them of police support. 

Adeoye has instructed police tactical teams to swiftly respond to any distress calls from vigilante groups under attack and offered prayers for the deceased operative, vowing that his sacrifice will not be forgotten.
