Anambra: Police Prevents Kidnapping Attempt

Rescues Victim.

Anambra State Police Command said it prevented a kidnapping attempt and also rescued the victim around Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, in the Aguata Local Government Area of the state.

According to a press statement on Thursday, the state police spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, affirmed that the police operatives recovered the victim’s car.

Ikenga said, The technology-driven and rejigged personnel operational positioning on the anti-crime approach of the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has continued to curb criminal endeavours of gunrunners in the state, as police in Aguata saved a kidnapped victim and recovered his stolen car, a sky blue Toyota Camry.

Aguata police responded quickly to an abduction report at 4:30 p.m. on May 22nd, in Umuchiana village, Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.

During the chase by the police team, the kidnappers forced the victim out of the car at Ndike village in Orumba North LGA and fled.

The determined police team relentlessly followed the kidnappers, who eventually abandoned their stolen vehicle, a blue Toyota Camry, along Umunze Road in Orumba South LGA and fled into the nearby bush. A search operation is currently underway to apprehend the criminals.

It was reported that the rescued victim has  reunited with the family. Commissioner of Police Nnaghe Obono Itam lauded the officers' bravery and assured the public that the police are dedicated to using all lawful means to prevent criminal activity in Anambra State.
