AI Urge Nigerian Govt.to Drop Charges Against a Protester

The Amnesty International Nigeria says Imoleayo would be appearing in court to face bogus charges.

The Global human right Organizations, Amnesty International, called for the freedom of Imoleayo Micheal, a computer programmer who has been in custody of Department of State Services for over 3years,( since 2020 ENDSARS protest) for participating in the ENDSARS protest against police brutality in the country.

According to a report published in its website, on 19th April, 2023, Amnesty International Nigeria stated that Imoleayo will be appearing in court on (Wednesday), to face bogus charges.

It was alleged that "Days after he attended #EndSARS protests against police brutality in Nigeria which took place nationwide in October 2020, at night 20 armed med raided Micheal’s home in Abuja, while his family where locked in a room.

Report also says "The security operatives destroy his bedroom window and pointed a gun at him, Noting that they seized his phone and computer in the process.

They called on all Nigerians and organizations to help to rescue Micheal and equally for charges against him dropped. The global human rights body narrated how they arrested him, locked his seven months old son, his aged mother and wife for hours, Noting that they equally disconnected the power supply to the streetlights around his house

It was alleged that the Nigerian Authority took Michael away from his family and lawyer and handed him over to state security service (DSS), headquarters where they held him for 41days in an underground cell. It was equally reported that he was handcuffed and also forced to sleep on bar floor. They made him feed on porridge missed with stones.
