Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has urged stakeholders responsible for distributing the Federal Government’s palliative to ensure transparency and fairness, stressing that the aid must reach the most vulnerable citizens in the state.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony for the palliative distribution held at the Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) Warehouse in Abere, Adeleke, represented by his Special Adviser on Emergency Management, Hon. Emiola Fakeye, emphasized the importance of honesty in the process. He commended the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) for their timely intervention and ongoing support during this period of economic difficulty.

The governor highlighted the collaborative efforts of security agencies, stakeholders, and volunteers who have worked to ensure smooth distribution, while calling on beneficiaries to make good use of the resources provided.

NEMA’s Director-General, Zubaida Umar, represented by Southwest Zonal Director, Stephen Adewale, revealed that under President Bola Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope" agenda, Osun State received 23,400 bags of maize and 5,040 bags of garri, which are to be fairly distributed, with portions allocated to religious groups and boarding schools.

Osun's Commissioner for Information, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, affirmed the government's commitment to a fair and unbiased distribution, while ICPC’s Chief Legal Officer, Barrister John Kalu, pledged to monitor the process for accountability.

The event underscored the partnership between Federal and State Governments in supporting those hit the hardest by the current economic downturn.
