The Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Commission has announced the successful refund of N157,952,880 to 2,586 pilgrims who participated in the 2023 Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

This information was disclosed in a statement issued by Aisha Sa’ad, the commission's information officer, on Monday in Yola.

The refunds were allocated as compensation for the subpar services experienced by the pilgrims during their stay in Saudi Arabia. Each pilgrim received N61,080 as reimbursement for these inadequate services provided by local service operators.

The funds for this compensation originated from a refund made by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Nigeria, which was facilitated through the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).

The amount refunded was distributed among the 36 states of Nigeria. The Adamawa State Muslim Pilgrims’ Welfare Commission received this sum specifically to ensure that the affected pilgrims were compensated fairly.

According to the statement, the disbursement process was executed efficiently, with all beneficiaries receiving their payments directly into their bank accounts.
