Miss Taye Ajoke, a student in her ND II level at the Polytechnic, was set free last night following a ransom payment of three hundred thousand Naira (N300,000) made by her parents.

It should be noted that the kidnappers had targeted three other students during the attack. These students included Freedom Luka, an HND I student in Public Administration; Ogwuche Janet, an HND II student studying Business Administration and Management; and Danladi Nicholas, a male student who was seeking admission to the Polytechnic.

The President of the Students Union Government at the polytechnic, Ekom Peter Ayaka, confirmed the release of the abducted student in Lafia on Thursday. He explained that the abductors initially demanded a ransom of N50 million but later reduced it to N500,000 after realizing that the victim's family and well-wishers couldn't afford the initial amount.

Ayaka further stated that, due to the pleas and appeals from Ajoke's parents, the kidnappers eventually agreed to accept N300,000 as ransom for her release.

“We are grateful to God that Ajoke has been released by the bandits. She was released around 7 p.m. on Wednesday after a ransom of N300,000 was paid. The kidnappers first demanded N50 million but later reduced it to N500,000. After several appeals and negotiations, they agreed to accept the N300,000 ransom," Ayaka commented on the situation.
