Abducted Kogi Chief Imam Regains Freedom

The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the release of Sheikh Quasim Musa, the Chief Imam of Iyara in the Ijumu Local Government Area of the state.

Sheikh Musa was reportedly abducted by armed individuals on Monday, March 25, 2024, at his residence in Ilukpa Iyara, the administrative center of Ijumu Local Government Area.

The assailants are said to have opened fire indiscriminately upon arriving at his house before abducting the Sheikh to an undisclosed location.

However, SP William Aya, the Public Relations Officer for the state police, confirmed his release in a statement to our correspondent on Saturday.

Regarding the question of whether a ransom was paid for his release, he declined to comment.
