18 Killed As Gunmen Attack Maulud Procession In Katsina

The attackers had apparently fled the scene prior to the arrival of security personnel.

Many people were killed and injured, including women and children, when bandits attacked a procession of Maulud celebrants in Kusa village, Musawa local government area, Katsina State.

A total of 18 people were affected, with many admitted to the Katsina Orthopaedic Hospital for bullet extraction and others admitted to the Musawa General Hospital.

Around 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, the bandits opened fire on the procession, and many people were abducted from the scene.

The attackers had apparently fled the scene prior to the arrival of security personnel.

The State Police Command's spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the report to journalists, putting the total number of victims at 18.

“They were evacuated to the hospital for treatment. Later on, two among them died. Further investigation is ongoing for possible arrest and to bring the perpetrators of these acts to justice,” the PPRO stated.
