17 Die, 208 Injured In Niger Road Accident – FRSC

A lone crash in Takalafia village on the Yawuri Expressway in the Magama Local Government of Niger State,has claimed the lives of no fewer than seventeen people.

The Federal Road Safety Corps spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, made a statement on Wednesday stating that the inquiry into the lone crash, which happened on Tuesday at around 3 p.m., involved 229 persons in total, including 220 male adults, 4 female adults, and 5 male minors.

“From that number, 206 male adults, one female adult and one male child were rescued with different degrees of injuries, while a total of 17 male adults were killed by the crash,” Kazeem disclosed.

He stated that a speed violation that led to a loss of control was the cause of the collision involving Idi Doba's red commercial DAF trailer with the license plate SRZ446XA.

The deceased victims were placed in the hospital's mortuary, while the injured victims were flown to Kantagora General Hospital for emergency care.

According to the statement, drivers of trailers and other haulage vehicles have been cautioned once more by FRSC Corps Marshal Dauda Biu not to transport passengers in their vehicle because doing so puts both the lives of the passengers and other drivers in danger.
