The mourners had come together to pay their respects to a Ukrainian soldier in a cafe located in Groza village, Kharkiv region. Tragically, the attack also claimed the lives of people inside a shop within the same building. It's worth noting that Groza was a small village with a population of just 330 people.

A spokesperson for the regional assembly, as reported by Ukrainian media, stated that this was the deadliest single attack since Russia's full-scale invasion began on February 24, 2022.

On the scene, AFP journalists witnessed a heartbreaking aftermath with charred and dismembered bodies strewn across the ground, juxtaposed with the ruins of the once-standing cafe.
